Instructions: How to properly fold paper compost bags with a roll bottom

You want your paper compost bags to stand stably in the bin instead of collapsing? In this guide, we'll show you how to perfectly unfold bags with a roll bottom.

Many of our sustainable BioGlück paper bags are equipped with a so-called roll bottom (instead of a rigid block bottom). The big advantage: this base shape is extremely flexible. With the right folding technique, the paper bag adapts optimally to various shapes of compost bins – whether round or angular – and maintains a secure stand.

Our popular 10l compost bags with handles especially use this technique to offer maximum stability while using ecological materials.

Roll bottom vs. block bottom: Why folding is important

While a block bottom provides a fixed shape, the roll bottom can be individually adapted. Without proper unfolding, the bag initially appears narrow, but with two simple steps, it unfolds to its full volume. This prevents annoying "collapsing" in the bin and ensures that moisture is better absorbed by the paper.
