Flat-leaf parsley with a strong aroma – robust and easy to grow.

Organic Parsley 'Gigante d'Italia' (Petroselinum crispum) forms considerably larger, dark green leaves than curly varieties and tastes strong and savoury. It is robust, high-yielding and reliably regrows after harvesting – in the bed, in a raised bed or in a pot.

Growing & care

Sowing & germination: parsley takes patience – germination is often uneven and takes two to four weeks. Keep the seed bed constantly moist during this time. In high summer it helps to shade the sowing spot lightly so the soil doesn't crust over.

Position & soil: loosen the soil deeply before sowing – parsley copes badly with waterlogging. Later the soil should be moist but never soaking, so the roots don't rot.

Harvesting tip: harvest from the outside in and leave the heart leaf in the middle. The plant then keeps producing new stems and you can cut fresh greens into the winter.

Why organic seed from BioGlück?

  • Certified organic quality: seed from certified organic production (control body DE-ÖKO-006) under the EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848. As required for organic seed: no genetic engineering and no chemical-synthetic seed dressing. BioGlück® is certified as a retailer under DE-ÖKO-007.
  • Open-pollinated: no F1 hybrid – parsley is biennial, so in the second year you can save seed from the flower heads. To keep the offspring true to type, no other parsley varieties should flower nearby.
  • Grass-paper packet: the packet and the germination-protection bag inside are both made of grass paper – the packaging is plastic-free and uncoated.

BioGlück serving tip

The stems are too good for the compost: they often carry even more aroma than the leaves. Finely chopped they add depth to stocks, stews or home-made herb salt.
